Methodology
How we compare kits
FEMA tells households to store one gallon of water per person per day. We treat three days as the window these bags claim. That is 3 gallons, about 11.4 liters, for one person. Two people need twice that. Four people need four times that.
A 2,000-calorie day is the planning number we use for food. Three days for one person is 6,000 calories. Scale the same way.
Every calorie and liter on this site came off an Amazon listing or a maker spec on the date on that kit page. If the listing skipped the number, the cell says unpublished or N/A.
Prices are the Amazon number we saw that day. Confirm at checkout. Listings change.
